Wenger: I am 99 per cent confident of new Arsenal singings

Wenger: I am 99 per cent confident of new Arsenal signings

The manager confirmed deals for Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez are close to completion, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers can depart
Arsene Wenger is "99 per cent" confident Arsenal will sign new players for the end of the transfer window.
Offers of €40m and €20m were accepted for Mustafi and Perez respectively on Thursday and the pair will now travel to London to undergo a medical.
“We are working on the deals, but we are not close enough to announce today," Wenger told reporters.
“Will we sign anyone before the window closes? I’m 99 per cent confident.”
He added: “It was a strange transfer market, I expected it to be easier than ever, but it has been more difficult than ever.
“It looks like it will be frenetic in the last three days, everyone has sat on their money but we know they will all splash out now.”
The two incoming deals paves the way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers to leave on loan, though Wenger insisted neither will be sold and no further incomings will happen.
“We have a big squad, we cannot have more players anyway," he concluded.

Wenger: Arsenal Closing On A New Signing

Wenger: Arsenal are close to a new signing

The Gunners boss says he is fed up with the transfer speculation surrounding his club and says he will only spend money on the right players this summer
Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal are close to bringing in a new signing following the Gunners' 0-0 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.
The result leaves Arsenal without a win after two games having lost their opening fixture against Liverpool at the Emirates.
"Yes we are close," he told BT Sport. "But I would say spending in itself is not a quality. Spending and buying the right players is a quality.
"I am a bit fed up to always respond to the same things. We look and analyse absolutely everything and we have to make the right decisions."
Wenger also praised new signing Rob Holding who started alongside Laurent Koscielny in central defence and helped the Gunners keep a clean sheet at the home of the champions.
“Nobody speaks about the performance of Rob Holding today - he is English, he is 20 years old, you should be happy. But I am sorry he didn't cost £55m so it cannot be good,” he added.“That is, for me, what is most disappointing – we don’t speak about the performances of the players anymore. We just speak about anything else but football and I believe it is not right.”
